Valencia striker Roberto Soldado has revealed that he rejected an offer from Tottenham in order to remain at Mestalla.
Spurs showed interest in the Spain international during their search for a new centre forward and even made an official offer for the 27-year-old.
However, Soldado claims he didn’t want to leave the club shortly after signing a new deal with los Che.
I know about Tottenham s interest, Soldado told reporters at a press conference.
My representatives told me about it they made an offer but it was rejected because, when I signed a new deal in the close-season, it was made very clear that I intend to honour it.
My loyalty to Valencia is total I want to play here and there are many things to achieve with this great team.
Roberto Soldado is a product of Real Madrid youth system, but despite showing a lot of promise while playing for club’s B side, he was allowed to join Getafe in July 2008.
The striker proved his worth at Coliseum Alfonso Perez, with 29 goals in 60 La Liga games for Getafe earning him a switch to Valencia two years later.
The experienced striker continued with impressive performances at Mestalla and is now considered one of the most prolific strikers in Europe, which didn t help him persuade Spain boss Vincent del Bosque to take him to the 2012 European Championship.
